The Sorcerer class is capable of dealing a ton of damage and having great combat utility as a powerful spellcaster. Sorcerers unlock a subclass instantly at Level 1, so you can start building on your subclass as soon as you become a Sorcerer.
Tempest and Draconic Sorcerers can be extremely powerful, but I like a little mystery and chance, so I have fun playing a Wild Magic Sorcerer. Here is the best way to build a Wild Magic Sorcerer in BG3.
Best Stats for a Wild Magic Sorcerer in BG3
As a Sorcerer, your primary spellcasting ability is Charisma, so you will want to max out your Charisma when creating your character. The other abilities you should focus on are Dexterity and Constitution. Constitution is important for health and Concentration Checks, and Dexterity is important for increasing your Initiative and weapon attacks.

Wild Magic Sorcerers have the unique ability to conjure different magical effects every time they cast a spell. When casting a spell at 1st level or above, there is a chance for a Wild Magic Surge, which will cause an effect that can be beneficial or a detriment to the party.

One of the best abilities a Wild Magic Sorcerer gets is Tides of Chaos at Level 1. Tides of Chaos allows you to gain Advantage on your next Attack Roll, Ability Check, or Saving Throw. The ability can be used once every Short Rest but increases your chances of a Wild Magic Surge on your next spell.

Best Feats for Wild Magic Sorcerer in BG3
Building a pure Wild Magic Sorcerer will give you access to feats at Levels 4, 8, and 12. Here are some of the best feats for a Wild Magic Sorcerer in BG3:
Feat | Description |
Ability Score Improvement | You increase one Ability by 2, or two Abilities by 1, to a maximum of 20. |
Elemental Adept | Your spells ignore Resistance to a damage type of your choice. When you cast spells of that type, you cannot roll a 1 |
Moderately Armored | You gain Armour Proficiency with Medium Armour and shields, and your Strength or Dexterity increases by 1, to a maximum of 20. |
Spell Sniper | You learn a cantrip and the number you need to roll a Critical Hit while attacking with a spell is reduced by 1. This effect can stack. |
War Caster | You gain Advantage on Saving Throws to maintain Concentration on a spell. You can also use a reaction to cast Shocking Grasp at a target moving out of melee range. |
With this build, the first feat you will want to take is an Ability Score Improvement to get your Charisma to 18 and your Constitution to 16. Increasing the ability score to an even number will increase the modifier to those rolls.

Spell Sniper is a great feat to take if you want to use target spells often, as it will result in more crit chances. Depending on your playstyle, you may want to take Moderately Armored to be able to increase your AC, take Elemental Adept if you want to focus on casting certain elemental spells, or War Caster if you want to cast many Concentration Spells.
Throughout your playthrough as a Wild Magic Sorcerer, you will encounter equipment that will be very beneficial to you. Try to equip items that boost your spellcasting, like Spell Attack or DC modifiers, items that give you resistances, and equipment that grants you helpful spells. As a Sorcerer, getting the Potent Robes should be a goal, as it is one of the best items for Sorcerers in the game.
