Fortnite v28.01.01 Patch Notes

Time to get things moving again!

The Big Bang update brought new POIs, Society Medallions, and fresh mechanics. Not all changes were good, but the team is fixing them up with patches. Here are all the v28.01.01 patch notes.

Fortnite Battle Royale

Movement

  • Movement speed increased when crouching and running
  • Reduced camera movement when sprinting
  • Adjusted change of view while sprinting
  • Updated movement animations

Medallions

  • Medallions are easier to see on the map
  • Reduced visual noise in minimap when Medallions are near each other

Night Visibility

  • Certain areas are now brighter at night

Storm Visibility

  • Improved Storm edge visibility

Weapon Icons

  • The Frenzy Auto Shotgun and Thunder Burst SMG icons are better differentiated

Balance Changes

  • Increased damage for Ranger Pistol, Ballistic Shield's Pistol, and Shield Breaker EMP
  • Reduced mag size for Snowball Launcher
  • Flowberries grant more shield
  • Reduced drop rate for Reaper Sniper Rifle
  • Increased mag size for Thunder Burst SMG
  • Society Medallion circle is smaller
  • Striker AR deals less damage
  • Delay on Society Medallions shield regen and reduced shield regen for each (only all five will restore 100% shield)

LEGO Fortnite

Cave Eliminations

  • Fixed bug allowing you to get killed in transition between belowground and aboveground

Durability

  • Increased durability for non-Rare and non-Epic tools and weapons by 30%, and increased durability for Rare and Epic tools and weapons by 60%

Damage

  • Reduced damage for all three Brute's poison areas
  • Reduced damage for Frost Scorpion's explosion

Critter Changes

  • Sand Scorpions, cave Scorpions, regular Scorpions, Crabs, Sand Spiders, and Alpine Frost Spiders are easier to defeat
  • Rams now give Heavy Wool

Other Improvements

  • Grapplers hold 30 charges
  • Reduced jumpscares from spiders under rocks

Rocket Racing

Long Queues

  • Incremental improvements on wait times

Car Collisions

  • Less punishing collisions
  • Cars won't spin 180 degrees when colliding with another car

Jackie Outfit Quest

  • Players now only need to complete one whole race at Gold I to receive Jackie reward

Fortnite Festival

Missing Song Library

  • Fixed bug where song libraries appeared empty in the Main Stage

Fall Damage

  • Fall damage is now disabled in Main Stage's Backstage

Restart Song

  • The 'Restart Song' functionality is temporarily disabled while they fix a bug with the game becoming unresponsive

Leaderboards

  • Fixed scores posting to the wrong leaderboards

These are all the fixes and tweaks we'll see in this little update. The team is working hard on improving all game modes to ensure we all continue to enjoy the experience. I'm sure we'll see plenty more changes in the future, so stay tuned!
