Best Characters in Unicorn Overlord

These characters deserve your Miracle Fruit.

Unicord Overlord throws a lot of characters at you early on. It can be tempting to simply use everybody sparingly, but at some point, you will have to prioritize certain characters to invest into.
These are the best characters in the game that you should be putting into a unit regardless of team composition.

Best characters in Unicorn Overlord, Ranked

10. Kitra

Kitra doesn't really excel as a frontliner, but she deals tons of damage, making her ideal for the backline. All Warriors are technically good just for being able to punish Armored enemies and to knock down barricades. Kitra is ranked ahead of the other Warriors since she has better speed and roughly as much physical attack.

9. Aubin

Aubin can become the hardest hitting character in your army very quickly. There are other characters with higher attack stats, but as a Housecarl, Aubin gets Parting Shot. This allows him to hit a second time at the end of an engagement. If you pair him with another strong character that can spread chip damage, Aubin can finish the enemy off easily.

8. Clive

Cavalry are busted in Unicorn Overlord. They have shortened rest times, they can move quicker, and they have a natural advantage against Infantry. This is very fortunate since, well, most enemies in the game are Infantry. Wild Rush is also a nice Valor Skill to break out against groups of enemies.

7. Chloe

Not every character in this game can attack and heal. Chloe can do them both as a Soldier, though. Her spear can pierce through columns, hitting multiple targets at the same time in some instances. She can also use Quick Heal to support bulky characters like Clive or Lex.

6. Holdrick

Thanks to his Guard skill, Holdrick is one of the best frontliners in Unicorn Overlord. You can feel free to pair him with any squishy characters you want, since he will provide cover for them and seriously lowering the damage they take. Holdrick doesn't deal that much damage by himself, but his utility makes him very valuable.

5. Adel

As a Cavalry Unit, Adel gets the same benefits as Clive does. The difference between these two characters is that Adel gets better Growth Types. With Offensive and Go-Getter, Adel will have the power and speed to cut down most Infantry, while Clive is more defensive by nature.

4. Berenice

This Sellsword is one of few characters to come with an already high Attack stat, but that's only half the picture. Sellswords can use Following Attacks, which basically allow them to retaliate anytime one of their allies get hit. This means that Berenice is capable of attacking over and over again until everything in front of her dies.

3. Alain

It may not be surprising that the main character of Unicorn Overlord is also powerful, but it's more so the skills that give Alain his power as opposed to his stats. Lean Edge can heal himself back up, and he ends up getting a Medium Guard skill. Alain can be a very strong frontliner, especially when paired with a Healer behind him.

2. Travis

There simply is no hitting Travis in the early game of Unicorn Overlord. His Evade ability gets two uses, and after that the enemies still need to land a hit on his naturally high evasion. At level 10 he gets a poison attack, making him even more of an annoyance to deal with.

1. Fran

Fire Emblem fans are probably used to Flying characters being incredibly strong, but it's a whole new beast in Unicorn Overlord. Flying Characters have huge evade against Infantry characters, and if they are ever unlucky enough to get hit, they also get Wing Heal to give them a bit of health back. In addition to their defensive capabilities, Flyers can also go over terrain, so they can scout ahead of the army and take out key Garrison Points. Fran is the earliest flyer you get in Unicorn Overlord, and she probably needs a unit to herself immediately.
