Where to get an Axe in Animal Crossing New Horizons

To get an axe in New Horizons, you will need to find Tom Nook and speak to them on the second game day; you can find Tom Nook in Resident Services, and to get the axe from him, you will need to donate either fish or bugs to him.

After this, Nook will give you a recipe for a flimsy axe, which is the worse axe in the game; don't worry, you can craft more later on.

That said, once you get the recipe from Tom Nook, you can craft a flimsy axe with the following resources.

  • Five Tree branches
  • Two Stone

However, the flimsy axe will only get you so far, plus it breaks really fast, so we recommend upgrading it by buying the pretty good tools DIY recipe for 3k miles. After this, you can make a proper axe with the following resources below.

  • One Flimsy Axe
  • One Wood: you can get wood from chopping trees down with your flimsy axe.
  • One Iron Nugget: you can get iron nuggets from rocks with a stone axe you make after getting the pretty good tools recipe with three wood and a flimsy axe.

Once you got the best version of the axe, you will be able to chop trees down faster and longer and get resources such as hardwood.
