How to Catch a Wasp

Wasps are available at all times of the year and are active during all parts of the day. So, no need to worry about seasonality or what hemisphere you're in!

You've likely come across these already at some point if you've done any tree chopping. A hive will drop out of the tree and you will be attacked by a swarm of these guys! Well, there's a couple of ways you can handle this. If you actively want to catch a wasp, then it's a bit easier. What you need to do is have your net out and run around your island shaking trees. Make sure to shake the FRONT of the tree. This allows you to immediately turn towards the wasp swarm and swing your net. If you can do this quickly enough, you will catch yourself a wasp!

If you're like most people and you're innocently shaking or chopping trees and you are confronted by wasps, you will have to alter your tactics a bit. You can still pull off the quick net, but it's easy to bumble the controls and forget where your net is located on your tool ring. If that's the case, you're going to need to sprint away from the wasps! Keep running and then try to quickly switch to your net and take a swing at them. This won't always work, but it's most likely your best option.

If you just want to escape the wasps, you can run to your house or a shop and enter into it. If you get there before the wasps get to you, they will disperse and you will make it out of the situation un-stung. If you have the Party Popper item, you can actually use that and pop it to scare away the wasps. This is a pretty fringe scenario, but it's something you could do for fun!

Curing a Wasp Sting

You won't be able to avoid the wasps every time they pop out of a tree, so what do you do to cure yourself? Well, make sure to pick up that nest because you can use it! If you don't have the recipe for Medicine, talk to one of the villagers on your island after you've been stung. They will notice your messed up face and give you the DIY recipe for Medicine. You can craft it by heading to a crafting table and having 3x Clump of Weeds and 1x Wasp Nest. If you don't want to craft the Medicine, you can always talk to Tommy and purchase it at the shop for a small amount of bells! Access the Medicine in your inventory and you will be as good as new.
