All changes to Ranked Arenas in Apex Legends Season 11: Escape

From adding a split to changes in matchmaking.

In Season 10 of Apex Legends, players got their first go at Ranked Arenas. While it worked quite differently than Ranked Battle Royale, the format seemed to go over relatively smoothly. That said, going into Season 11, several changes were made to the way Ranked Arenas works, and Respawn's also fleshing out how a Ranked season is set up after a previous one.

Going forward, Ranked Arenas will have a split in the middle alongside the Ranked Battle Royale split. This won’t be half one map, half another, but rather a soft Matchmaking Rating (MMR) reset. At the start of a season, you will have the normal 10 placement matches. After a split, you will have another small set of five placement matches. There have also been improvements made to matchmaking, meaning that you will be paired with similarly skilled teams more often.

The final change goes along with the prior in that if you are placed in a match far outside of your MMR, the amount of Arena Points (AP) that you gain from winning or losing will be lowered. This means that you won’t win as much AP when defeating a team that you (statistically) should have lost to, but it also won’t brutally fault you for losing to a team that you (statistically) should have won against.
