Here we are going to explain how to tame a Tropeognathus and what you will need in order to tame it in Ark Survival Evolved.
How to get a Tropeognathus in Ark: Survival Evolved
A Tropeognathus is a rare creature in Ark Survival Evolved that you will have a hard time finding on nearly all maps in the game. This is because The creature can only be found on the crystal isles map. That being said, if you are looking to catch yourself a Tropeognathus in Ark, you will need to search the areas marked by the image below.
Along with this, you will also need to be at least level 65 so that you have both the ballistic turret and chain bolas unlocked, as both are essential for taking down a Tropeognathus. Next, we recommend bringing a creature that supports a platform saddle like a Bronto or Mammoth so that you can use the ballistic turret to shoot the Tropeognathus.
Once you got that down, all you need to do next is find and locate a Tropeognathus. When you have located one, hop on the back of your creature and aim the ballistic turret to take the Tropeo down. After this, we recommend placing three dino gates to make a trap around the creature to keep it from escaping. If you need an idea of what to do, we recommend checking out the video linked below.
When you have a trap made around the Tropeognathus, you will need to lower the dino's food meter in order to tame it. To do this, you will need to repeatedly shoot the Tropeognathus with a chain bola and wait for the meter to go back down. We also recommend getting the spyglass mod so you can easily monitor the meter here.
Also, you will need to wait until the food meeter drops below 3k before you can start to tame it. If you feed the Tropeo before this point, you will mess the tame up and will have to try again - you will also need to have Seven Exceptional Kibble to tame the Tropeo.
That being said, follow the steps below to tame a Tropeognathus in Ark Survival Evolved.
- Find and capture a Tropeo using a Dino gate trap, as show in the video linked above.
- Shoot the Tropeo with a chain bolt, and then wait for its food meter to go down.
- After some time passes, the Tropeo will get back up and start flying again - at this point, repeat step one.
- Keeping repeating both steps two and one until the Tropeo's food meter is below 3k. At this point, you will need to feed the dino the kibble, and if it is starving enough, you should tame it.
