Blue Protocol is a JRPG coming from Bandai Namco that is slated for release in 2023, with the Western translations of the game being handled by Amazon Games (which also handles MMOs Lost Ark and New World). Thanks to the popularity of JRPG hits such as Genshin Impact, the game is getting a lot of hype. And what a lot of players want to know is, is Blue Protocol an MMO?

What type of game is Blue Protocol?

Yes, Blue Protocol is an MMO, being defined by the publisher as an ARPG MMO. It has a gorgeous anime style, with gameplay that sees players team up in a persistent online world, the planet Regnas, some 2,000 years in the future. Players can create the look they want for their character, with their class being dictated by the weapon they use to allow more varied customization.

When you want to explore a dungeon in Blue Protocol, they will be instanced. You can choose to solo dungeons, gather a party of your friends, or join a queue to enter with other random players. Combat is skill-based, with players also summoning mystical creatures in the battle to aid them. You’ll be able to go ranged or melee, with the familiar skill trees allowing you to customize to your style of play. You will also be able to explore everything from huge cities and bright open pastures through to abandoned settlements and barren wastelands with your friends.
