How to beat level 13 on Choppy Orc

Why is it always the number 13?

Choppy Orc is a unique platforming puzzle game where you play as an orc, using nothing but his trusty axe and wits to get through each level. With popular platforming RPG Hollow Knight Silksong still in development, Choppy Orc provides a fun platforming and split-second timing game to play through in its stead. Though perhaps not as challenging as Hollow Knight, some of Choppy Orc's levels provide a good challenge, and level 13 can be especially difficult.

The 13th level of Choppy Orc puts the player at the bottom of a hole at the left side of the level. The path in front of them requires the scaling of the hole, followed by the avoidance of spikes, bats, ghosts, and fire on the way to the coveted treasure chest at the end. Completing this task will require great decision-making and timing, but it can be executed using the following movements:

  • Start by scaling the wall of the hole. To do this, you need to jump and throw your axe at the wall, landing on the axe. You can then jump off of the axe, recall it to you, and throw it again while landing on it. However, you need to leave the axe embedded in the wall about halfway up.
  • Jump up to the cave passage at the top of the map, then head right. Line yourself up so that the bat enemy in the middle of the map is between you and your axe, then recall your axe. You must kill the bat enemy with this method to beat the level.
  • After recalling your axe, throw it into the skull post. This will turn the ghost enemies transparent, allowing you to pass through them without harm as long as you leave the axe in the skull post.
  • Descend through the tunnels until you reach the fire pit at the bottom. This is the toughest part of the level. You need to jump, and as you start your jump you need to recall your axe. Then, mid-jump, when you catch your axe, you need to immediately throw it at the wall and land on it. If you execute this correctly, you can make it to the far side of the fire pit.
  • The last step is the easiest, as all you need to do is recall your axe, kill the bat enemy near the chest, and clear the level!
