Spectre Mode is one of the classic 6-v-6 game modes in CrossFireX, but with a big twist. The attacking team must plant a bomb at one of the two objective sites while the other team defends. However, the attacking team are all Spectres, which are mostly invisible, can go completely invisible when standing still, and can only use melee weapons.
Spectre Mode can be found in the Classic multiplayer game mode tab and is played on the Laboratory map. Each team plays up to four rounds as the attacking Spectre team and as the defending team. If the attacking team plants the bomb, the defending team has 40 seconds to defuse the bomb. Each round lasts three minutes and ends if the time expires, if the attacking team is eliminated, or if the bomb is defused.

Spectres appear as shimmering outlines when moving and become completely invisible after a second while standing still. Spectres can also stay completely invisible when mantled on objects. While invisible, Spectres breathe loudly, so the defending team is able to hear them when nearby. Spectres do not have a more powerful melee attack, so it takes two to three melee hits in front of an enemy or one from behind to eliminate them.
The defending team can use custom loadouts, so players are able to create one that is catered to Spectre Mode. Most likely, players will want a gun with high ammo capacity to be able to spray areas to find the Spectres.
