How to play the Dead by Daylight PTB (Public Test Beta)

Watch out for clowns.

Dead by Daylight development company Behavior Interactive has allowed players of Dead by Daylight to access upcoming content early via their Player Test Build system. The PTB opens up soon-to-be DLC to players so they can test out the new Survivors, Killers, Perks, and Abilities and get a feel for how to play them. In the guide below, we explain how to join these developmental versions.

Accessing the Dead by Daylight PTB

Step One: Enter the Game Settings

The process to join the PTB for Dead by Daylight starts outside the game. As seen in the image above, you can enter the launch settings from the Game page in your Steam Library. Select the gear icon (Settings) on the right of the page and select Properties from the drop-down menu.

Step Two: Select the Public Test Beta

From the settings menu that you just opened, select the Betas tab on the left of the page. You will have two options that you can change here. Underneath Select the beta you would like to opt into, click the drop menu and select public-test - External Branch for Public Tests.

Once you have done that, the next time you launch the game, you will automatically join the Player Test Build of the game. You will now have access to all the upcoming content, perks, Killers, Survivors, and more (assuming it's available to your account). That's all there is to joining the Dead by Daylight PTB!
