What do the DBD Snowmen do in the Winter Bone Chill Event 2023?

The Winter Bone Chill event 2023 is the third iteration of this DBD holiday event. With each one, we have gotten an update to the Snowmen mechanic. It keeps us on our toes, that's for sure. You can currently do three things with the DBD Snowmen in the Bone Chill Event.

First, Snowmen provide Survivors a place to hide from Killers in Dead by Daylight's Bone Chill event. Survivors can hop inside a Snowman and move about the map. Each trial has Snowmen scattered about the map for players to interact with.

Watch out, however, as the Killers can also hide in Snowmen. When they are in one, they make no sound and are undetectable. So, if you're approaching a Snowman, watch out, as there might be a nasty surprise hiding inside.

The Mimic Snowman is the last mechanic introduced in the 2023 DBD Bone Chill event. These Snowmen are entirely unusable by both the Killer and the Survivors. What they'll do is make a sound and then explode if you approach them. This can alert the Killer to your location, so it's not always safe to head to the first Snowman you see, especially if you know the Killer is right behind you.

When playing the Bone Chill event, you have to be really careful when approaching Snowmen if you're a Survivor, as you can run into either the Killer or the Mimic Snowman. If you're a Killer, the Snowmen are a good hiding place, but approaching them can also mean a Mimic exploding in your face.

If you don't want to risk it but want to make sure the Snowmen don't trick anyone, you can throw snowballs at them. You get snowballs from Snowskull piles. There are eight across the map; interacting with one will give you six snowballs, which you can recharge by going to a pile again. You can also throw them at Killers and Survivors alike. They don't cause harm, but they do add a little mischief and holiday cheer.

The Dead by Daylight Bone Chill event lasts until January 4, 11am ET, so make sure you use these Snowmen as much as possible during the holiday season.
