You read that right, Guardian. On October 7, Bungie's Destiny Development team announced on their official blog detailing the removal of the Forsaken DLC from its current wheelhouse of content. Starting on February 22 (release date of Witch Queen expansion), Bungie will remove the Forsaken Campaign and the Tangled Shore destination from current Destiny content.

But that's not all. In addition to the Year 2 campaign and unique location, certain Year 4 content will also be removed from the game, including the Presage and Harbinger exotic missions. However, the dev team did state that the Proving Grounds Strike, the Warden of Nothing strike, and the Battlegrounds activities will continue into the upcoming Year 5. These will join a new playlist called "Vanguard Operations" free to all players in February.

The dev team also stated that to remove this content; they will be using the Destiny Content Vault (DCV) to basically "archive" the Year 2 DLC. This system was introduced to help relieve the dev team, so they could spend more time and energy on new content and important improvements such as faster patch response time and better load times.

Cayde-6

This is a bit of a blow to Destiny fans everywhere since the Forsaken DLC was a critical success for Bungie and players had to say a bittersweet goodbye to the iconic, gunslinging, charismatic Exo hunter, Cayde-6. The expansion also brought back famous Destiny 1 exotics like The Last Word, Thorn, and The Chaperone.

But, lucky for anyone who hasn't touched the Forsaken Campaign or explored the Tangled Shore, the article added that the campaign would be available for free for all players starting December 7 until its removal in February.

Also, starting on December 7, a Forsaken Pack will be available for purchase that will give players access to the Last Wish Raid and the Shattered Throne dungeon. It will also give you three Forsaken Ciphers to instantly unlock any Forsaken Exotic weapon in the Monument to Lost Lights. For anyone who already owns the Forsaken DLC, you will receive three Ascendant Shards instead.

Even as this content is removed and placed in the DCV, players will still get to see some old content make a reappearance in Year 5. For example a classic raid, two PvP maps from previous years, and even a PvP map from Destiny 1.
