What to do with Gunsmith Materials in Destiny 2

Use them or lose them!
This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information

Destiny 2 has dozens of resources that players will acquire throughout their journey. Some of these resources can be used as currency or materials in crafting, but you can also trade them into certain NPC's for reputation. Such is the case with Gunsmith Materials, but soon these materials will no longer have any use.

You get Gunsmith Materials from dismantling weapons throughout the game. Players can then trade these materials into the Gunsmith, Banshee-44, in exchange for weapons and mods. However, with the release of The Witch Queen, these Gunsmith Materials will cease to exist, due to an overhaul of the Gunsmith reputation system. Players should spend all of their Gunsmith Materials before The Witch Queen expansion.

The Gunsmith will be getting a reputation system similar to Zavala and Lord Shaxx. This means that players will now earn Reputation Rank progress with Banshee-44 when dismantling Legendary and Exotic weapons and armor or by completing daily Gunsmith bounties. Players should spend all of their Gunsmith Materials before Destiny 2's servers go offline at 7pm PT/10pm ET on Feb. 21, 2022. Any Gunsmith Materials still in your inventory will be automatically removed after this time.

Players most likely have built up many of them while playing without even realizing it, so make sure to turn them in before they are removed from the game to avoid missing out on any rewards.

My name is Mason Moses. I am an entertainment aficionado, who spends more time consuming it than I would like to admit. I've been playing video games for the past 15 years and every time I turn one on, it feels like the very first time. Since I liked games so much, I decided that I would write about them.
