Now that we've helped Belle decipher her Mysterious Book and remember her mystery-solving days in the Valley, it's time to complete her very last Friendship quest and earn her extra special reward—her ball outfit! To do that, you'll need to go on one more riddle-solving treasure hunt adventure with her to find and fix The Chronicles of The Ancients. Keep reading below for all the steps to complete this quest.
How to complete 'The Chronicles of The Ancients' quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley
After boosting up Belle's Friendship level to 10, you can start "The Chronicles of The Ancients" quest. Belle will ask you to look at her journal to see if you can help figure out what treasure it refers to. So, your first step on the quest will be to track down and examine her journal.
Where to examine Belle's Journal in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Although the quest for me said to examine Belle's Journal at Beast's Castle, which I figured referred to The Beauty and The Beast realm, you'll actually find the journal at Belle and Beast's House in the Valley. The journal is laid out on Belle's desk in the far left corner. Interact with it to drop out a page to look at, triggering the collection of the memory.
After speaking to Belle about what you saw, you'll need to speak to Ariel to see if she knows anything about a treasure on a 'faraway island.' Thankfully, Ariel will mention she saw some sort of glowing object on the island she was previously stuck on.
It's time to take a look at this object for yourself. Head to the Raft near Skull Rock in Dazzle Beach and interact with it to travel over to Ariel's Beach. Here, you'll see a grey glowing chest stuck in some rocks just a few feet away from the Raft. Unfortunately, to get it out, you're going to need some more help. First, you'll need to collect some materials for Beast:
- Ropes x4 (Made from Fiber)
- Iron Ingots x2 (Made from Iron Ore)
Once you have those, you can bring them to Beast, and then he'll meet you back at the island to remove the rocks. You'll also have an option to dress up in more Rustic-styled clothes to fit the occasion.
After Beast removes the rocks, you can now check out the mysterious chest. Interacting with it will allow you to remove the scroll and add another memory to your collection. This memory is particularly important to the best part of the quest because to unlock the chest, you'll need to find each of these symbols and take a picture of them with your camera.

How to find all the Symbols in Disney Dreamlight Valley
They say it's easier to find these symbols in the light of the moon, meaning at night time. However, if you are too impatient to wait like I was, you can still find them easy enough. There are four symbols in total in these different locations:
- Ariel's Beach
- "Near the eyes of icy peaks"
- "Near watery ruins"
- "In the darkest part of the lands"
Ariel's Beach
This is the first symbol you find, and it is right next to the chest, so it should be the absolute easiest of them to take a picture of. Just move a few steps to the right of the chest and look at the rocks, and you'll see the mermaid tail.
'Eyes of Icy Peaks'
You'll find the "icy" symbol over at the obviously icy location on the map: Frosted Heights. The eye part of the riddle is also a super helpful hint because it refers to the eye carving on the outside of Olaf's Cave. You'll see your symbol just to the left of the cave door.
'Watery Ruins'
The "watery ruins" the riddle is referring to is found in The Glade of Trust, where the waterfall falls down around the ruins. Here, you'll find another symbol on a rock in front of the ruin's fishing spot.
'The Darkest Part of the Lands'
What is the "darkest part of the lands" in the Valley? Of course, the Forgotten Lands is exactly where you'll find the last symbol. Head to the biome, search near the mysterious pedestals, and you'll see the symbol on the rocks behind them.

After taking a picture of all the symbols with your camera, you can now head to Belle and Beast's House and open the chest. You'll receive The Chronicles of The Ancients device; however, it is very much broken. To fix it, you'll need to take it to someone who can grant wishes—Fairy Godmother. She'll need you to collect the following materials:
- Sapphire x1 (From the Vitalys Mines deposits)
- Gold Ingots x10 (Made from Gold Nuggets)
- Vitalys Crystals x3 (From the Vitalys Mines deposits)
- Dream Shards x5 (From Night Thorns and digging spots)
Bring these materials to Fairy Godmother, and she'll be able to repair The Chronicles of The Ancients device. Now, you can give it to Belle, but she'll want to allow everyone to be able to enjoy it, so she'll ask you to place it down near the Dreamlight Library.
The Dreamlight Library or Merlin's Tower is located right in Peaceful Meadow, and you can now place the device pedestal down beside it from your Furniture menu. As long as you have it on the outside of the tower by all the books, you'll be able to complete the quest.
Belle will reward you with her iconic ballgown or suit from her Friendship tree, and you'll have successfully finished her Friendship quests. Don't forget to level up Beast and complete his Friendship quests as well to receive more Beauty and The Beast-styled rewards!
