The Valley is full of all types of cute critters and animals that you can interact with and even tame as your little sidekicks. However, not every type of critter available will be around the Valley at all times. You'll have to enter the game at the right times to find the breeds you'd like to tame, and we made a detailed schedule and guide to help you do that.
How to tame all critters in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Much like the character's sleep schedules, critters also have set schedules that they appear and disappear around the Valley. There are different colored species of each animal type, but only two of each will appear at a time, and they are regularly cycled in and out on certain days and times. You don't have to worry too much about time zones since Disney Dreamlight automatically syncs to your local time. Here is a list of all types of critters and the times they appear around the Valley:

Disney Dreamlight Valley Critter FAQs
Here are some extra tips and info about all things critters in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
Why do you have to feed critters?
Feeding critters their favorite treats will allow you to tame them to the point where they become equipable companions that accompany you around the Valley. Although they don't have much impact on the world, they still look adorable by your side and allow you to pet them by pressing on them with A on Xbox and Switch, X on PlayStation, or E on PC.
How many times do you need to feed a critter to tame it?
When you feed a critter its favorite food, it will display hearts, signifying they are a step closer to becoming tamed and a possible companion. However, not all critters take the same amount of time feeding to become tamed. While squirrels usually take only one feeding to be tamed, more difficult animals, like foxes or ravens, can take up to four or more times. You'll have to be diligent to collect all of them.
Why won't the critter let you approach it?
Some critters, like crocodiles and raccoons, are easily spooked and take longer to approach. Occasionally you may find that they just won't allow you to approach them. In my own experience, I have found that this glitch happens more often when there are a lot of obstacles and debris around the biome. Critters will attempt to run away but tend to get stuck on objects or take longer to track the space around them. You can always exit the biome and renter to try again or ensure the area is better cleared before attempting.
How can you equip a critter as a companion?
Once you feed a critter its favorite foods enough times, it will eventually become an available companion. You can change out your companions any time, just like your other accessories or outfits. Open your character inventory by pressing Y on Xbox and Switch, Triangle on PlayStation, or I on PC. Then select the Wardrobe tab. Here you will find the category Companions, which will show you all the critters you have tamed and can equip.
How can you get special critter companions?
There are special critters companions you can obtain outside the critters you find roaming around the Valley. These are often specifically themed critters from a Disney film or for a particular event. You can usually find them unlockable from the Star Path or sometimes from completing quests for various characters.
We hope this list of critter schedules and tips helps you tame the companion you wanted and get better acquainted with how the critters work in Disney Dreamlight Valley. We will keep this page updated with any future critters that are added as well, so keep checking back.
