Earning the trust of the critters scampering around the Valley is a little more difficult than befriending Villagers. You'll need a little bit of an incentive to gain their trust, and that incentive is food. Here are all the animals' favorite foods!

Disney Dreamlight Valley Critter Food Guide

Feeding Critters is beneficial in various ways in Dreamlight Valley. Each Critter has a specific food that is their favorite. If you manage to give them the foods they like, they can drop special items for you, such as Clothes Bags, Motif Bags, Star Coins, and other valuable materials.

Figuring out their Favorite Foods can be a bit tricky, but they are often found right in their home location. If you give them their Favorite Foods two to three times, they can become Companions for your character and join you in your adventures around the Valley. You can equip them in your Wardrobe menu under Companions.

What is the Squirrel's Favorite Food in Dreamlight Valley?

Squirrels wander around the Plaza, particularly often around the Wishing Well, and are the easiest of the Critters to approach. While their pallet is broad, the most apparent food they enjoy is nuts. There aren't many nuts around the Valley, but their Favorite Food is:

  • Peanuts

Peanuts are only obtainable through Remy and require you to complete his Quest to find his lost Recipe Books before they can be available to purchase at Chez Remy.

What is the Rabbit's Favorite Food in Dreamlight Valley?

Rabbits can be seen scurrying around Peaceful Meadow. Although they aren't the most difficult of Critters to approach, they are a much faster animal than the Squirrel. You'll need to chase after them twice and wait for them to settle down before approaching. Their Favorite Food is one of the more obvious:

  • Carrots

Carrots can be purchased in Peaceful Meadow at Goofy's Stall, although it might require you to upgrade the Stall once or twice. You can also find seeds by removing Night Thorns and planting them yourself.

What is the Sea Turtle's Favorite Food in Dreamlight Valley?

Sea Turtles prefer to stay close to the ocean on Dazzle Beach and can occasionally swim through the water. The Sea Turtle is a shy Critter with a shell to hide in. You will have to wait for them to pop back out of their shell to approach them carefully. Finding their Favorite Food is not tricky since it also is located near water:

  • Seaweed

Seaweed can be found right on the shores of Dazzle Beach or by fishing in any water. You can also gain plenty of it if you help Moana restore the Fishing Boat on the beach.

What is the Raccoon's Favorite Food in Dreamlight Valley?

Raccoons are another shy Critter that requires slow movements to approach. If they get spooked, stop moving and wait for them to calm down before continuing. Although Raccoons are known to be primarily nocturnal, they can be seen at any time of the day in the Forest of Valor. Their Favorite Food is close by as well, growing right there in the Forest:

  • Blueberries

Blueberries can be found in bushes around the Forest of Valor or occasionally purchased at Goofy's Stall. Obtaining them is easy, and you can usually get two or three from one bush.

What is the Crocodile's Favorite Food in Dreamlight Valley?

The Crocodiles in Dreamlight Valley are not so fierce or dangerous. Once you approach them, you can see that they are cute little Critters with intriguing colors and patterns. Approaching them is the hard part, however, and will require a lot of patience. Much like the Raccoon, you must wait periodically once they are spooked before continuing your approach. They are residents of the Glade of Trust, and it might take some extra work to get their Favorite Food:

  • Lobsters

Getting Lobsters is a little bit trickier than harvesting or foraging foods like most of the other Critters. This requires you to do some fishing. Lobsters can be fished from the water at the Glade of Trust, but only from gold-colored fishing spots. It helps to bring along a friend from the Valley with the role of Fishing to boost your chances of catching one.

What is the Sunbird's Favorite Food in Dreamlight Valley?

The beautiful and colorful Sunbirds, or Hummingbirds, fly around the air of the Sunlit Plateau. Although they are flying Critters, they are relatively easy to approach. Unlike all of the other Critters, the Sunbird does not eat regular foods but instead prefers flowers. Their Favorite Foods are as follows:

  • Pink Houseleeks

Houseleek Flowers and Bromeliads can be found growing all over Sunlit Plateau in various colors. The Pink Houseleek seemed to work the best for us, but you might find certain Sunbird species like other colored Flowers.

What is the Fox's Favorite Food in Dreamlight Valley?

Foxes stick to the snowy wonderland of Frosted Heights. It can take some patience to approach them since they will keep running away from you each time you try. Much like the Rabbit, you will have to keep chasing them until the Approach option is available. Their Favorite Foods may require a bit extra to obtain:

  • White Sturgeon Fish

White Sturgeons can be fished from the waters of Frosted Heights but only from gold-colored fishing spots. Since this fish is rare, you may want to bring along a Fishing friend to help earn a few extra for safe keeping.

What is the Raven's Favorite Food in Dreamlight Valley?

The Ravens blend in well with the spooky forest of The Forgotten Lands and can be seen flying around the trees. To Approach them, walk toward them and wait for them to fly in a circle around you. Once they lower to your level, you can feed them. They have a more refined taste in food than the other critters and will require you to cook something up for them:

  • 5-Star Meals

Their favorite meals are any variety of a 5-star meal, meaning you get to decide what they would like to make with the ingredients you have on hand. This will make it a bit trickier to claim them as your companion, but if you can, cook some meals in preparation so feeding them is more straightforward.

What is the Monkey's Favorite Food in Dreamlight Valley?

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

The monkeys are a bit difficult to track down, much like the Rabbits back in Peaceful Meadow. They will require a bit of a chase to Approach. Follow them two times, and then you can Approach them and feed them. Believe it or not, their favorite food is not bananas; they have much finer taste than that:

  • 5-Star Meals

Much like the Ravens back in Forgotten Lands, the monkeys will only accept 5-Star meals as their favorite food. Thankfully, Chez Remy is right there in Ancient's Landing and you can whip up something with the ingredients you have.

What is the Capybara's Favorite Food in Dreamlight Valley?

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

The Capybaras are some of the most docile critters of Eternity Isle, much like the Squirrels back in Dreamlight Valley. They will allow you to approach them and feed them as you like without being spooked. Plus, they enjoy a lot of different types of food. However, only one proved to be there favorite:

  • Cabbage

The Cabbage is the Capybara's favorite food and they will do a little dance to prove it. You can buy Cabbage seeds right from Goofy's Stall in Wild Tangle. They take an hour to grow but if you take a gardening pal along with you, you can collect several to save up for your Capys.

What is the Cobra's Favorite Food in Dreamlight Valley?

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

Cobras as the more skittish critters of Eternity Isle, and much like the Crocodiles, will take a little game of Red Light, Green Light to approach them and feed them. Thankfully, there favorite food is found nearby:

  • Scorpion

You can catch Scorpions with your fishing pole right in the sand pool toward the back of the Plains and in The Wastes and The Borderlands. They can be found in blue fishing spots.

These are all the Critters' Favorite Foods around the Valley. Keep feeding them daily for a chance to make them your Companions and have them accompany you around the Biomes. They will also drop useful items for you as well!
