How to use the Fortune Finder in Dragon Quest Treasures

Let's hunt for some treasure!

The Fortune Finder is an integral part of the treasure-hunting experience in Dragon Quest Treasures. It’s used to locate nearby hidden treasures. Once you get close enough, your monsters will send you visions to help you locate its exact location. Still, it can be a little confusing to use at first, so here’s a quick guide.

Your Fortune Finder can be used by pressing the L + arrow down button. Usually, you’ll want to use your Fortune Finder if your monsters speak to you with a yellow-outlined word balloon. If you get close enough to the treasure, the word balloon will be outlined in red.

Why is my Fortune Finder not working?

The Fortune Finder won’t be available if the hidden treasure is too far. This is why it’s best to wait for your monsters to give you a sign before you use it. Still, you can use the Fortune Finder even without a sign from your party if the treasure is within radius.

The Fortune Finder also cannot be used to locate silver treasure boxes. If your monsters’ treasure balloons are outlined in silver, check your map, as the silver treasure box’s exact location will be marked on it.

How to find more gold treasure in Dragon Quest Treasures

If you noticed that your treasure-hunting expeditions aren’t turning up gold treasure boxes, it’s very likely because of two reasons:

  • The treasure forecast isn’t ideal
  • You’re not bringing the right set of monsters with you

Treasures are classified into ten types: hero statues, monster statues, cards, otherworldly items, weapons, armor, items, and key items. Monsters have a treasure type they hunt for. The treasure climate, which changes every time you return to your base, changes on every island. Certain treasure types become more common to find than others, and you need monsters that can help you search for them.

You can check a monster’s preferred treasure type on their profile. This can be found in the party option of your menu.
