When to change vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Good thing I switched to the Fighter for this encounter! I'll just throw my sword at it!

Determining when to change your vocation in Dragon's Dogma 2 is pivotal for optimizing your character's abilities and enjoyment of the game. From my gameplay experience, the flexibility to switch vocations adds a dynamic layer to how you can approach different challenges within the game.

What is the best time to change vocation in Dragon's Dogma 2?

The best time to consider a vocation change is when you feel your current vocation no longer aligns with your playstyle or if you're looking to explore new strategies. If you aim to maximize your character's potential, changing vocation after acquiring essential augmentations from your current class can be beneficial. Players often begin with the Fighter vocation, transitioning through others like Archer, Mage, or Assassin, to experience different playstyles and unlock valuable skills.

Each new vocation costs 100 Dcp to acquire. I recommend mastering your starting vocation before moving on to any other potential vocations because by then, not only will you get a firmer grasp of the vocation system, but you'll also accumulate enough Dcp for the vocation change not to be a burden. I started off with a Fighter, but after acquiring enough augmentations and Dcp at level 18, I changed my vocation to a more supportive role of Thief, as I acquired two more Fighter Pawns to take the burden of the battle head-on.

In Dragon's Dogma 2, vocation changes can be made at any major town's vocation guild. I prefer the Venworth Vocation Guild, located near the city's trade hub. At the guild, speak with Klaus to change your vocation and manage other related tasks, such as depositing Seeker's Tokens. This process allows for seamless transitions between vocations, enabling players to adapt their approach to the game's evolving challenges.
