To duplicate items in Elden Ring, you'll need to play with a friend. Ensure you know how to summon friends to your game before attempting the Rune Duplication method in Elden Ring.
Steps for Item Duplication in Elden Ring
- Back up your save data for Elden Ring.
- PC: Exit your game, search %appdata% in your PC search bar. Select the Elden Ring folder that appears, and select the first file folder at the top. This file should be an SL2 File. Right-click this file and copy it to a backup folder.
- PlayStation: Press the Options button when hovering over Elden Ring in the PlayStation menu and choose Save Data Management. Once the menu is open, select the Saved Data menu and pick Cloud Storage to upload a save of your most recent playthrough.
- PlayStation Plus is required for this method.
- Xbox: Exit Elden Ring by returning to the Xbox Home screen, hovering over Elden Ring, pressing the Menu button, and selecting Close Game from the following menu.
- Call a friend to your game
- Wait until your friend is loaded into the Elden Ring session and meet up before continuing.
- Drop the items you'd like to Duplicate with a friend
- Ideally, you'll want to drop items worth a sizable amount of Runes in Elden Ring. We recommend dropping Golden Runes, Numen's Runes, and Hero's Runes.
- Have your friend grab your items.
- Close Elden Ring
- Exit Elden Ring, shutting down the game entirely.
- Reload your previous save
- Once Elden Ring is shut down, reopen the save you created before dropping your items to reacquire them.
- PC: After the game stops running, head to your backup save, copy it, and replace the most recent save in the Elden Ring file menu located in the same spot you copied earlier.
- PlayStation: Select the Cloud Save from your Save Data Management tab via the Options menu.
Xbox: Open Elden Ring once it's shut down completely.
- Once Elden Ring is shut down, reopen the save you created before dropping your items to reacquire them.
- Reclaim your items
- Invite your friend back to another session and have them drop off your items
- Rinse and repeat
- Continue to duplicate items using this method until you've got enough items to rack up a plethora of Runes for upgrades to avoid repeatedly fighting the same mobs of enemies.
