How to Sprint in Elden Ring

How do you move faster?

Having the ability to move quickly is essential in a combat-heavy game like Elden Ring. Running (or sprinting) is a relatively simple mechanic, but how to actually do it may not be obvious to some players, especially ones that are new to the genre. In Elden Ring, players can sprint by holding the B Button (on Xbox) or Circle Button (on PlayStation). This will cause players to move faster than their normal walking speed. Releasing the sprint button will cause the player to stop running.

Sprinting is mostly used for traversal. It can be difficult to make your way around Elden Ring's massive world and sprinting can make things much easier. Sprinting isn't very useful past this, however, as the player's horse, Torrent, is much faster and can get players to harder-to-reach places.

In most cases, players needing to move quickly in battle should rely on other methods. Using the in-game mount or dodging/rolling are much safer ways to get around when it comes to avoiding attacks.
