What are Evergaols in Elden Ring?

Dare you enter an Evergoal?

Elden Ring has many places for you to explore. Along with its characters and storyline, the game is full of content, meaning there is a lot to discover and get stuck into. Something new to these types of games are Evergaols, so what are they exactly?

While traversing the Lands Between, you will most likely encounter something strange-looking (not uncommon for these kinds of games we know). These particular things look worm-like on the map and will be a mass of stone boulders with purple eyes when encountered in person.

These boulder-like structures can be broken apart with your weapon, which reveals the  Evergaol within. They are mystic prisons and cages of magic that house dangerous enemies and keep them incarcerated.

You enter an Evergaol by approaching the glowing spot within the circles of stones left by the previously mentioned purple-eyed boulders. You can then fight whatever tough beast is lying in wait inside for a chance to win Runes and loot.

The success rate will most likely be low at the beginning because they truly are high-powered. It will most likely take some grinding and leveling up before you can properly take advantage of the Evergaols. Either that or you can become really good at rolling, parrying, and striking over a long period of time.

If you enter an Evergaol and are bested by the creature inside, worry not, as your Runes will not be stuck in the prison they inhabit. Instead, you will find your Runes sitting outside the portal in the stone circles that you see before entering. Thanks, FromSoftware, that's shockingly nice of you!
