What are Rays of Guiding Light in Elden Ring?

Find your next objective.

FromSoftware's latest title, Elden Ring, promises to be the most ambitious title that the team has created yet. With a new world to explore and new enemies to encounter, players have a host of new mechanics and items to familiarize themselves with, including Rays of Guiding Light.

Rays of Guiding Light are markers that guide players to their next objective. Rays of Guiding Light spawn when players rest at Sites of Grace, Elden Ring's equivalent to Bonfires. While these markers do come from Sites of Grace, they won't always appear when players stop to rest. When they do spawn, players are also welcome to continue exploring, ignoring the suggested path. These rays appear in the overworld and give players a general sense of where their next mission lies.

Rays of Guiding Light are also available for review in Elden Ring's map, allowing players to see where this guide is pointing them.

Unlike Dark Souls and Bloodborne, Elden Ring features an open world for players to explore as they hunt for the shards of the Elden Ring scattered across the Lands Between. Players become an Elden Lord of the Lands Between by gathering each piece of the Elden Ring.

Elden Ring launches on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on Feb. 25, 2022.
