How to get The Gutter in Fallout 76

One of the best melee weapons in the game.

Fallout 76 is full of amazing weapons for players to collect. Some are Legendary Weapons that are obtained from defeating regional bosses, some come from random drops, and others are made by combining weapons and mods to create something entirely new. One weapon that is made by crafting is The Gutter, an enhanced version of the impressive Assaultron Blade. So, let's run through how to get it.

The Gutter is a modified version of the Assaultron Blade turned into a melee weapon. Compared to the Asssaultron Blade, it has 20% more damage and weighs less. It is one of the best melee weapon options in the game for those in early to mid-game. The weapon itself is made of an Assaultron's arm and a grip that allows the player to hold onto it better.

There are two versions of The Gutter: one from Daily Ops and the Legacy version can be obtained from a quest in The Wasteland. If you have the version from Daily Ops (the red and yellow version), then you cannot sell or trade the item. If you have the Legacy version (gray), then you can sell and trade the blade. This is the only difference between the two versions: the color and whether or not you can trade and sell them. However, neither version can be scrapped for extra parts.

The Gutter Stats

This weapon has differing stats depending on the level that the player must be in order to wield it. However, even with different levels, the stats will stay for each level, so anyone with a level 25 version should have the same basic stats. Here is what you can expect from The Gutter:

  • Type: Melee
  • Class: One-Handed
  • Legendary Effects: Dangerous (20% more damage ) or Vampire's (Restores 2% of health over 2 seconds if you successfully hit an enemy)
  • Levels: 25, 35, & 45
  • Damage: 28 (level 25), 33 (level 35), and 40 (level 45)
  • Speed: Medium
  • AP Cost: 35

How to find The Gutter in Fallout 76

There are two ways to obtain The Gutter, and each way is specific to a certain version of the weapon. For the Daily Ops version (the non-tradable, red and yellow one) players will need to complete Daily Ops. This is not a guaranteed reward for Daily Ops, and is one of the rarer rewards. Once you obtain it from Daily Ops, you will only get the Plan for it, meaning you will need to craft it. Here are the items you need for crafting it based on its level (the first number is for a level 25 one, the second number is for a level 35, and the final number is for a level 45 one. If there's only one number, you only need one for any level):

  • Aluminum (4, 5, or 7)
  • Assaultron Circut Board (1)
  • Gear (6, 8, 10)
  • Legendary Module (2)
  • Oil (4, 5, or 7)
  • Plastic (6, 8, or 9)
  • Screw (7, 9, or 11)
  • Steel (13, 15, or 18)

Another way to obtain this item is to complete the "Waste Management" quest in The Burrows, an area in the Harpers Ferry part of The Mire. To start this quest, all you need to do is enter The Burrows via one of the manhole covers in Harpers Ferry and pick up the Holotape on the Brotherhood of Steel Squire. Once you have completed the quest (which will require you to investigate a Pump Station within The Burrows), you will obtain this item as a reward.
