In Final Fantasy XIV, several quests, hunting logs, and FATEs require you to kill Arbor Buzzards. The small, flying mob resembles an overgrown seagull and is easily identified as it menacingly flaps toward you—that is, if you can find it. Unfortunately, the Arbor Buzzard often eludes players who are not familiar with the beginning zones of Final Fantasy XIV.
The primary place to find Arbor Buzzards is in Central Shroud at map points X: 26, Y: 29. This is the primary zone in which the mobs spawn, and the intent is for you to farm them.Â
They are level 11, and there are seven or eight of them within the area, alongside some Tree Slugs and Hornet Swarms.
However, Arbor Buzzards are sometimes marked as also spawning at the coordinates X: 18, Y: 19 in Central Shroud. This is because the FATE Lethe on My Mind generates several level 7 Arbor Buzzards. If this FATE isn’t active, no Arbor Buzzards will spawn at this location.
Arbor Buzzards also spawn in small numbers in Western Thanalan (X: 17, Y: 16), and Western La Noscea (X: 30, Y: 30). The Arbor Buzzard is a featured creature on the Arcanist, Archer, Conjurer, Lancer, and Pugilist hunting log, so the majority of the starting jobs will have to kill this mob at some point. So it’s worth familiarizing yourself with the spawning locations!
