Best Skills in Fire Emblem Engage, Ranked

Time to start trading that Sigurd ring around.

Equipping the right skills can go a long way in making Fire Emblem Engage a bit easier. Sadly, most of these skills are locked behind certain classes or Emblems. This makes the Inheritable Skills extra important since every character will have access to them. Mixing and matching particular skills can turn some units into deadly threats.

Which are the best Skills in Fire Emblem Engage?

10. Golden Lotus

This skill is attached to the Avenir class, which is exclusive to Alfred in Fire Emblem Engage. Golden Lotus has a chance (based on Dex) to cut incoming attacks by 50% power. In theory, this can allow Alfred to tank lots of strong hits, however, it might not activate as often as the player might like.

9. Divinely Inspiring

One of the things that makes Alear such a great unit is access to this skill. Divinely Inspiring lets adjacent allies deal 3 more damage and take 1 less damage in return. It's surprising how many hits turn into kills just because Divinely Inspiring boosts them.

8. Wrath

Wrath has been seen in previous Fire Emblem games, but it's been reworked in Fire Emblem Engage. In this game, Wrath gives the unit +1 Crit for every HP that's missing. This works well on certain characters like Panette, who gets +10 Crit for missing HP anyways.

7. Sol

Another staple of Fire Emblem, Sol gives the user a chance to heal 50% of damage dealt during combat. Diamant is the only character who can get this (through the Successor class), but he is a great Sol user anyway. Players can leave him by himself with the Ike ring and watch him basically never die.

6. Eclipse Brace

This skill from Eirika's ring is useful for a couple of reasons. Eclipse Brace deals extra damage (20% of the foe's Defense) and heals the user by 30% of the damage dealt, so long as the user initiates combat. As such, this skill can help damage tanky units and give the user some nice recovery.

5. Laguz Friend

This skill comes from Ike's ring, as it can best be the best friend for an enemy phase unit. Laguz Friend lets the user take 50% less damage than normal at the cost of having 0 Avoid. This skill works wonders on units like Diamant, Louis, Alfred, and others who prefer to take hits on the enemy phase and retaliate.

4. Draconic Hex

From Corrin's ring, this skill is practically essential for the boss killing and taking down other tough enemies. Draconic Hex drops the enemy's stats by 4 after the user initiates combat. With this, players can debuff and enemy before going in with other units to finish the kill.

3. Canter

Canter is a slightly reworked version of Canto from other Fire Emblem games. Coming form Sigurd's ring, Canter lets the user move two spaces after combat. Believe it or not, those two spaces could get Calvary or Fliers to get out of enemy ranges easily.

2. Alacrity

This skill really helps glass cannons be more effective. If a unit has Alacrity and they have a Speed advantage of 9 or more, they can follow up before the enemy retaliates. If the user has a strong bond with Lyn, they can decrease this threshold to have 5 or more Speed over the enemy. This skill is why Lyn's ring is so powerful on characters like Chole or Merrin since they can pick up KO's without taking any damage.

1. Momentum

Getting extra damage for moving is simply a godsend to certain units. Many of the mounted units in the game (especially flyers) can miss out on kill thresholds due to insufficient strength. Slap the Sigurd ring on them, though, and suddenly, they can get extra Strength based on the tiles they move. The moment works excellently on Chloe, Alfred, Amber, Merrin, and plenty of other characters.
