Which difficulty should I choose in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes?

Easy, Normal, or Hard?

Choosing a difficulty is probably a matter of pride in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. Sure, you get better rewards at times, but when it comes down to it, it’s really a matter of whether or not you are up to the challenge. So, for your first no-New Game+ bonus run, which difficulty should you default to?

If you want to fully enjoy your Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes experience, we highly recommend that you play on Normal. This difficulty makes enemies moderately tough and allows you to deal a moderate amount of damage. It takes much longer to defeat foot soldiers on Hard. They also deal a bit more damage. Naturally defensive units like Dimitri could handle it, but it can be potentially lethal for mages like Lysithea.

If you think Normal is too easy, play on Classic Mode! The added risk of needing your units alive should be more than enough to add that much-needed challenge to your missions. Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes’s action controls are also not that responsive (especially when you’re playing on handheld mode) and a little laggy, so Hard mode battles will be that much more difficult to overcome. If Normal gets too easy, you can always change the difficultly before a battle.

How to change difficulty in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes

  • On the pre-battle menu screen, choose System
  • Go to Settings
  • On the Game Settings tab, change the difficulty

Incidentally, you can also use this method to change the game’s difficulty to Easy for easy grinding during side missions. There’s no need to struggle through mobs over and over if you don’t want to. The only thing that can’t be changed in the Game Settings tab is mode. So, choose wisely between Casual and Classic before you begin your game.
