Moving around in Fortnite has always been critical to achieving a victory royale, and over the seasons, Epic Games has introduced several cool movement items. From the Shockwave Hammer to the Kinetic Blade, these items help players to rotate around the map quickly, allowing them to take a better position while engaging opponents.
The Spider-Verse Web Shooters are now available in Fortnite alongside the ODM Gear from Attack on Titan, giving players more rotation options to choose from. Remember, you can only keep one of these items in your inventory, which is why you need to know which mythic item is better. We have used both these items extensively and have come up with the answer to settle the debate on w one is better.
ODM Gear vs. Spider-Verse Web Shooters, Which Is Better In Fortnite?
During the Attack of the Titans collaboration, the ODM Gear was added in Fortnite Chapter 4, Season 2. Not only did it bring Eren Jaeger to the game, but it also introduced the Thunder Spears, another mythic item that can be used to deal significant damage to other players. The ODM Gear comes with a charge meter that runs down from 100 percent to zero every time you use the mythic weapon.
This item enters a cooldown after finishing the charge and is usable shortly after. The ODM Gear also has a usability meter, which destroys the mythic when it runs down to zero. Getting shot while using the ODM Gear puts it instantly in a cooldown, leaving players exposed for a short while. At the same time, using the slash attack uses the ODM's charge significantly.
The Spider-Verse Web Shooters were added during Week 11 in Fortnite Chapter 4, Season 2. This mythic item functions similarly to Spider-Man's Web Shooters from Chapter 3, Season 1. It has 80 web cartridges, and you can only keep one Web Shooter in your inventory. These webs are used to swing across the map, reducing the count from 80. If you come across a fresh Web Shooter, pick it up to get the full 80 webs.
ODM Gear vs. Spider-Verse Web Shooters, which one to use in Fortnite?
So, you might wonder which one is better, the ODM Gear or the Web Shooters. Functionally, it comes down to one factor - holding on to a surface versus dealing damage to an opponent. Web Shooters can hold onto a surface without losing its charge or usability. This means you can do infinite 360-degree swings using only one web cartridge out of 80. While the Spider-Verse Web Shooters are great, they lack in certain aspects compared to the ODM Gear.
For instance, the ODM Gear has an AoE (Area of Effect) slash ability that allows players to deal damage to opponents. You have to aim with the ODM Gear in mid-air to strike an opponent, which deals around 70 damage. You can also follow up with successive attacks on opponents by aiming again.Â
However, the Spider-Verse Web Shooters has no such striking ability, making it the weaker choice. On the contrary, holding onto a surface with the ODM Gear reduces its usability by bringing down the change radically. Similarly, the ODM Gear's slash ability uses more charge, but having the ability to attack makes it the better choice.
Can you use the ODM Gear and Spider-Verse Web Shooters together in Fortnite?
Unfortunately, you cannot simultaneously have the ODM Gear and the Spider-Verse Web Shooters in your inventory. You can only use one at a time, so knowing the difference makes it easier to choose. Ideally, during the early game, you can use the Spider-Verse Web Shooters to move around the map.
However, we highly recommend the ODM Gear for the end game, as you can damage players with this mythic weapon. You need to have the upper hand during the final fights in a match, and the ODM Gear comes with damage capability and mobility options. This makes it the superior choice between the two rotational items available this season in Fortnite.
