The Peaks and Troughs of Life is a Genshin Impact event that runs from October 23, 2023, to November 6, 2023. It involves a series of three-part combat challenges, where you can use customizable sets of Buff Modules to help defeat enemies faster and increase your score.
Here's everything you need to know about how to unlock and complease the limited-time The Peaks and Troughs of Life event in Genshin Impact.

The Peaks and Troughs of Life is open to all players who have completed the following prerequisites:
- Reach Adventure Rank 20 or above

How to play The Peaks and Troughs of Life event in Genshin Impact
Head to the event Domain marked by a unique icon south of the Beryl Region, where you can begin playing through five stages that unlock throughout the event period.
Difficulty Selector
Upon selecting a stage, you'll get an overview of the Monster List and Buff Modules for each round to help you prepare appropriate parties. You'll also be able to change the difficulty based on the Score Multiplier. Suppose you're a casual player and only care about the Primogem rewards. In that case, I suggest sticking with the x1 Multiplier as the mobs are very easy to kill, and you'll be able to get enough points for the important Primos.

Party and Buff Modules
There are three rounds for each stage, so you can set up three parties tailor-fitted to go against each enemy lineup. You can repeat characters, so don't worry about not having 12 unique units to fill the teams. You'll also be provided with trial characters who align with the Buff Modules for each stage, so feel free to use them.
Something to keep in mind is that each character will provide you with Load, which is used to get Buff Modules for the stage.
- First to seventh unique character: +60 Load each
- Eighth to ninth unique character: +55 Load each
- Tenth to twelfth unique character: +40 Load each
- Repeated characters: +10 Load each
Assuming you don't repeat any character, you can get a total of 650 Load, which is more than enough to get two Level 2 Buff Modules per team. I didn't feel that the Level 2 Buff Modules make a big difference, so feel free to repeat your characters.
After setting up your parties, you can proceed with choosing Buff Modules. You can pick up to two Buff Modules per party, and each costs 40 Load (Level 1) or 100 Load (Level 2).
Combat
Each combat round takes 1:40 minutes, and the goal is to defeat as many enemies as possible within the time limit. As you defeat enemies, the Buff Modules will charge at the bottom of the screen.
Once the Buff Modules are charged, you will unlock the special interaction button (T for PC, but refer to your screen for your exact button). Click on it to enter the Buff Module charging screen. You must hit the jump button once the blue circle enters the yellow circle three times to get a Perfect Charge. Doing so will increase the effects of your Buff Modules.
After completing all three combat rounds, you will receive a score based on your performance. It determines what rewards you can claim. You only need to score 2,000 to get the Primogems.
