How to get the Legendary chest at Jarnsmida Pitmines in God of War Ragnarok

God of War Ragnarok is full of tricky puzzles and collectibles. Some of the more difficult puzzles to complete revolve around chests, often containing powerful gear and rare loot. The legendary chest in the Jarnsmida Pitmines is especially difficult and can give players a hard time.

How to open the legendary chest in Jarnsmida Pitmines in God of War Ragnarok

It can be confusing at first, but players can follow the steps below to complete the legendary chest puzzle.

Players should continue through the Pitmines until they speak with Sindri in a short cutscene. He will give Kratos and Atreus a light in the cutscene to use in the mines.

After the cutscene, players should head to the right of the large open area to find a small chest containing Hacksilver and an explosive barrel that will clear the yellow rocks around it. From this path, players can use Kratos' Blades of Chaos (see image below) to turn the aqueduct, causing it to pour water on a large wheel.

After turning this aqueduct, players should see the massive crane in the center of the Pitmines start to move. This will result in a large rock moving around with the crane. Players should climb onto the large rock (see the image below).

Once on this giant rock, players should throw Kratos' Leviathan Axe at the aqueduct to stop the water from flowing onto the wheel (see image below). This will cause the crane to carry the giant rock and the player back to its original location.

Once players have ridden the crane/giant rock back to its original location, they can jump down to the legendary chest and open it to obtain its loot.

What is in the legendary chest in Jarnsmida Pitmines in God of War Ragnarok

Inside the legendary chest in the Jarnsmida Pitmines are the Pommels of the Undying Spark. These great pommels give players a nice bonus in the early game. They are worth the trouble of completing the puzzle for the legendary chest.
