GTA Online is a game that many have invested hundreds, if not thousands of hours into, so you want to always be able to access your save data. Sometimes, however, when logging in the game will tell you that your save data could not be loaded. Here are some tips on how to fix that when it happens.
Restart Your Console/PC
We know, we know, it's the tech advice that is now as old as tech itself. "Have you turned it off and back on again?", but just hear us out. Inside that smart box of tricks which you play your games on is a lot of code, and sometimes when starting up a game something simply doesn't get read properly and creates an error.
It is more common than you think despite being an automated process, and turning your device off and back on again can help to reload everything, including bits of code which may have glitched for some reason upon powering up the first time. This may not always work of course, so we have a few more tips as well.

Clear Out Your Cache
If you are not sure of what your cache is, it is basically data that the game has stored from previous interactions but it isn't always necessary, and does not include any of your really important data. Clearing this can often help alleviate this problem.
To do this you will need to:
- Start the game
- When the Rockstar logo pops up Hold L1 and R1 together at the same time
- If you miss that we believe it still works when the woman with the iFruit is showing as well
- After pressing L1 and R1 you will see the Select Brightness Screen
Once you have done this, you not only be redirected to the brightness screen, but the game will have also cleared the cache in the background. So any data which was not mandatory that may have been preventing your save data from loading should have been cleared!
After this you should find that you can access your cloud saves again for Online.
Check Rockstar's Servers
Sometimes, in this crazy technological age, when you are logging in to pages or applications any difficulties you encounter might be due to the host's servers being down, or going through a maintenance update.
If the previous two tips don't work it is always worth checking whether Rockstar is actually applying some changes and messing around with the server, this will often lead to error messages because not all of the services will be running at that point. Or, they will limit functionality to prevent mass data deletion.
To check this just head to Rockstar's Service Status page, and navigate to the GTA icon. This will inform you of any outages that they are aware of at their end. If this is the case then you will have to wait until the servers are fully back up and running again.
Hopefully one of these methods should get you loading back into your HQ so you can plan your next heist!
