How to Update Sea of Thieves on PC

Set sail on the sea of updates.

Sea of Thieves is my go-to pirate game, especially with the new Monkey Island Tall Tale and commendations. However, I play on PC rather than Xbox, which makes updating the game a bit tricky. That said, there is an easy way to update Sea of Thieves on PC and ensure you are playing the latest version of the game.

Sea of Thieves - How to update on PC

There are two ways to update Sea of Thieves on PC. I recommend updating via the Xbox app, as I find this to be the simpler method. That said, here's how to ensure Sea of Thieves is up-to-date on PC.

  • Microsoft Store
    • Open the Microsoft Store.
    • Search Sea of Thieves.
    • Click the Three Dots icon.
    • Select Downloads and Updates.
    • Click Get Updates.

  • Xbox App
    • Open the Xbox app.
    • Select Sea of Thieves.
    • Click the Three Dots icon.
    • Select Manage.
    • Go to Files.
    • Click Check for Updates.

Once you follow these steps, the game will automatically start updating. If it doesn't, be sure to press the Update button on the right side of the Sea of Thieves menu. Making sure Sea of Thieves is up-to-date is not only important to ensure your game runs smoothly, but also to make sure you get the latest content.

If Sea of Thieves still doesn't update on PC, you may need to close Sea of Thieves and restart your computer. Sometimes an update will only take effect once the game or PC has been restarted. Lastly, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling Sea of Thieves.
