Is Facebook Marketplace down? How To Check Servers

Is Facebook Marketplace down or is it just you?

It’s an unpleasant thing: you’re looking for bargains, or to offload some unwanted stuff on Facebook Marketplace, only to find the website is down. But is it a problem with Facebook’s servers or something different? Here’s how to check if Facebook Marketplace or the servers are down.

Check if Facebook Marketplace is down?

The first thing to do if you suspect Facebook Marketplace is down is check the official Facebook Twitter account. Although they don’t post every error or server outage on that account, it's a good place to check. Next, head to Downdetector and see if others are reporting Facebook is down. If a lot of people are, it’s likely the servers are in fact down.

At that point, its time for some troubleshooting or some patience. While some server outages mean there’s nothing that can be done, others have some fixes.

Fixing Facebook Marketplace not working

If you’ve checked the above, and it’s showing there’s no outage, we suggest the following steps:

  1. Double check your own internet connection. Your ISP might be encountering issues, or your router may need updating. Unplug your router and wait 60 seconds before plugging it back in. Additionally check your ISP isn’t suffering a localized outage.
  2. Check any firewalls, ad-blockers, or internet security programs aren’t blocking the site. Updates to things like firewalls and ad-blocking software can sometimes disable features on websites. Websites updating can also cause ad-blockers to block more than you want them to. Disable them before continuing.
  3. Try on another PC or device! Use a different phone or tablet to check if the issue is with Facebook and your connection or your device. Sometimes updates to apps or other elements of your device can change how you access sites.

If you’ve exhausted all these steps and still have an issue, then unfortunately patience is all you’ve got left. Good luck!
