The answer to whether Hearthstone is pay-to-win is yes and no—Hearthstone is free to play, but it can be pay-to-win if you intend to play competitively, want to stay up to date with the meta, or want to purchase new release cards immediately. You can earn cards simply by playing the game, but this can take some time, as Hearthstone features a comprehensive roster of cards.

You will unlock most of the cards you need to build fun and powerful decks in time. So long as you play casually, you can leave your money in your wallet. You must spend money or dedicate yourself to grind to speed up the card collection process.
