All Butterfly Locations in Hogwarts Legacy

As the iconic red-headed wizard, Ron Weasley, once said: "Why couldn't it be follow the butterflies?" Well, with this side quest, it can be 'follow the butterflies.' These magical butterflies will lead you to unique chests filled with goodies to put in your Room of Requirement. Here's where to find them all.

Where to find all the Follow the Butterflies Chests

Just like the Collection Chests, butterfly chests have more furniture and decor items to add to your Room of Requirement. These chests are spread around the map in various locations; you must follow the butterflies to find them.

The key to locating the butterflies is to keep a close eye on your compass on the bottom left of your screen. When you're nearby a location, it will be revealed on your map, and even if you lose a visual of the butterflies, you can still track them using the compass as well.

To begin the Follow the Butterflies quest, you'll want to head to Hogsmeade and speak with Clementine Willardsey in The Three Broomsticks. Accepting the quest will lead you to the first of fifteen butterflies, and you can follow your quest marker to find its location just outside of Hogsmeade. After this butterfly, you're on your own to find the rest, so we put together a guide to help you locate all of them:

Pitt-Upon-Ford Butterfly Location in Hogwarts Legacy

Take the Pitt-Upon-Ford Floo and head northeast toward the back of the San Bakar Tower. If you follow the path, you'll find it just off to the right side.

Forbidden Forest Butterfly Location in Hogwarts Legacy

These butterflies are in the middle of the Forbidden Forest. To get there, you can take the Jackdaw's Tomb Floo Flame and head northeast, past a Merlin Trial.

East Hogsmeade Valley Butterfly Location in Hogwarts Legacy

These butterflies are east outside of Hogsmeade. You can take the Floo Flame East Hogsmeade Valley and head due south to find it.

East North Hogwarts Region Butterfly Location in Hogwarts Legacy

Take the East North Hogwarts Region or Jackdaw's Tomb Floo, and then head east past the Niffler den. You'll find them along the river.

Quidditch Field Butterfly Location in Hogwarts Legacy

These butterflies are just southwest of the Quidditch Field. To get to them, you can either exit out of the castle and past the Quidditch Field, or you can take the Mooncalf Den Floo Flame and head due south.

Aranshire Butterfly Location in Hogwarts Legacy

Take the Aranshire Floo Flame and then continue south, just past the Merlin Trial, and you'll find the butterflies up on the hill.

Central Hogwarts Valley Butterfly Location in Hogwarts Legacy

Take the Central Hogwarts Valley Floo Flame and head directly to the east. They will be just off the path and will lead you to the chest nearby.

Keenbridge Butterfly Location in Hogwarts Legacy

Take the Keenbridge Floo and follow the path toward the west. You'll pass by an Ancient Hotspot and find the butterflies just alongside the path.

Keenbridge Bandit Camp Castle Butterfly Location in Hogwarts Legacy

Take the Keenbridge Floo Flame once again, but this time head southeast of the town toward the large Bandit Camp Castle you see on your map. It will be right at the bottom where the river runs through it.

North Feldcroft Butterfly Location in Hogwarts Legacy

Take the Feldcroft Floo Flame and head north. You'll pass by an Ancient Hotspot, Puffskien Den, and a Troll Lair, and the butterflies will be just along the cliff edge.

Feldcroft Catacombs Butterfly Location in Hogwarts Legacy

Take the Feldcroft Catacombs Floo and head toward the southeast, passing the Niffler Den. You can follow the branching path to find them or cut through with your broom. They will be just outside some bandit camps.

North Poidsear Coast Butterfly Location in Hogwarts Legacy

These butterflies are just above the Tomb of Treachery waterfall outside the ruins. To get there, take the North Poidsear Coast Floo and head southeast, and they will be just before a Merlin Trial.

South Poidsear Coast Butterfly Location in Hogwarts Legacy

Further south in Poidsear, you'll find some more butterflies. From the South Poidsear Coast Floo, head directly south, pass an Ancient Magic Hotspot, and you'll find them just off the path.

Clagmar Coast Butterfly Location in Hogwarts Legacy

These butterflies are located on Clagmar Coast. The easiest way to get to them is to take the Clagmar Castle Floo and head northwest or take the Cragcroft Shore Floo and head south. They will be just below a bandit camp.

These are all the locations of the butterflies. Don't forget to utilize your compass to help you locate them easier, and once the icon shows up on your map, you can click on it to place a marker. Now you can head to your Room of Requirement and check out all your new goodies!
