Should you pick a Witch or Wizard in Hogwarts Legacy?

Witch or wizard, which is better?

Hogwarts Legacy explores a new story in the Wizarding World, taking place well before the birth of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger. Instead, you create your own character and can customize them how you wish. However, the first question can be tough and may leave you wondering if you should play a witch or a wizard in Hogwarts Legacy.

What are the differences between Witches and Wizards in Hogwarts Legacy?

Mechanically and storywise, there are no differences between playing as a witch or wizard. The only main difference is what rooms you have access to, namely the dormitory and bathrooms. Like in the books, wizards cannot enter the witch dormitory, but witches can enter the wizard dormitory.

Also, like the books, should you try to enter the witch dormitory as a wizard, the stairs will turn into a slide and send you to the bottom. Realistically, you could use magic to bypass this, but Hogwarts Legacy does not allow you to do this in-game.

Witches can also enter both bathrooms, but wizards cannot. So besides a few unrestricted accesses, there is no real difference between playing a witch or a wizard. Choose whichever one you want and begin your magical adventure.
