Should you pull for Imbibitor Lunae (Dan Heng) in Honkai Star Rail?

I'm pulling for him because he's hot.

The Imbibitor Lunae, Dan Heng's not-so-secret five-star form, was revealed in The Xianzhou Luofu Trailblaze Mission surrounding the disciples of the Sanctus Medicus. And while he certainly made a flashy entrance and was a great help against Phantylia the Undying, does his playable form really live up to the deeds of the all-powerful Dan Feng?

Is Imbibitor Lunae (Dan Heng) worth pulling in Honkai Star Rail?

The Imbibitor Lunae is a five-star Imaginary character that follows the Path of Destruction. He offers a DPS-focused kit that, on paper, results in an extremely high DMG output. Dan Heng's five-star form is also very easy to build. One of his best-in-slot five-star Light Cones, On the Fall of an Aeon, is completely free as it can be purchased from Herta's Store. Meanwhile, one of his best Relic options, the Musketeer of Wild Wheat, is the most universal Relic Set in the game—so the investment to build him is very small.

The main problem with Imbibitor Lunae is that his kit includes an annoying quirk: his Basic ATK includes four variations, three of which require the use of Skill Points to activate. It means that you'll be forced to build a team with characters that aren't dependent on using Skills for their primary functions.

For example, Natasha needs to use her Skill to heal allies, which makes her a terrible teammate for Imbibitor Lunae, as they would both have to fight for Skill Points. So while Imbibitor Lunae himself is quite a free-to-play friendly unit, making him perform his best will require a higher team-building investment. Additionally, the dependency on Skill Points makes Imbibitor Lunae less efficient in auto-battles. If you want him to perform well on auto, the entire team's SPD needs to be perfectly aligned to maintain a rotation that generates the most Skill Points before Imbibitor Lunae's turn.

So should you pull for Imbibitor Lunae? In my opinion, if you love his kit and his design, then he's worth the Stellar Jades—as there is no tier list more important than the one in your heart. But on a more practical level, you may want to consider what characters you already have and determine whether they could be paired with Imbibitor Lunae to form an efficient team. If you can get past his Skill Point-dependent kit, then, by all means, pull for him. However, if you find this too burdensome, then you might be more compatible with a less fussy DPS like Blade.
