Horizon Forbidden West is filled with resources and materials for you to sell and craft throughout your journey in the forbidden west. These materials all have their uses—some will allow you to craft arrows, traps, or workbench upgrades. One of the hardest resources to collect is specific Machine components, here is the best way to farm them.
You will first need to scan the machine with your focus. This will highlight all the available components on the machine. You can then mark the component with Triangle, and it will remain highlighted in Pink. You can then use a bow or any weapon with tear damage to shoot the specific component directly. Attacking from stealth can help you line up the shot and use the concentration skill by pressing R3. Some components may require multiple shots.
How to find machine components?
If you're looking for specific machine components to use in the upgrade, you can create a job in the workbench by pressing Triangle. This will create a job in your journal and a map marker of where you can find that machine. You can also get machine components as rewards for completing the hunting ground challenges.
You can also view specific machines, their components, strengths, and weakness in the machine catalogue in your menu. This can help you identify where on a machine you can find specific components without having to be near the machine, or worry about being attacked in the open world.
