What does the Apex Clawstrider piece do in Horizon Forbidden West

One of the various special items that players buying the Digital Deluxe version of Horizon Forbidden West received was the Apex Clawstrider piece. This piece is used in the tabletop game created by the Tenakth called Machine Strike. Machine Strike is a game of strategy somewhere between Chess and Risk. Players use different pieces based on the in-game machines to topple one another on the battlefield.

How to use the Apex Clawstrider piece in Machine Strike

Players who bought the Digital Deluxe version will automatically have this Machine Strike piece, but they still might not understand its mechanics or what it's good for. The Apex Clawstrider is a melee-type piece, meaning it has to be up close and personal with other pieces to deal damage. It is worth five Victory Points, meaning that if it is destroyed, it will grant the enemy team five out of the seven points that are needed to win. Outside of this, here are the stats to keep in mind for the Apex Clawstrider.

Apex Clawstrider Stats

• Combat Power - 3 points of damage
• Range - 1 square
• Movement Speed - 2 squares
• Hit Points - 8 points of health

Lastly, the thing to consider when picking this piece is its special ability called Retaliate. Retaliate works similarly to the Bristleback's Spray ability. At the start of each round, if there is an enemy piece within range of the Apex Clawstrider, it will turn towards them and deal one point of damage. Due to this ability and the high hit points of this piece, the Apex Clawstrider will work well as the player's main melee force and tank.
