Horizon Forbidden West serves as a worthy follow-up to 2017's Horizon Zero Dawn, providing players with new places to explore, new characters to meet, and a new combat system to master. One of the new combat mechanics that Horizon Forbidden West adds is Valor Surge.
Valor Surges are abilities that players can unlock in Aloy's skill tree. There are a total of 12 Valor Surges, each providing an extremely powerful ability or perk that can get players out of a tight situation when needed.
Valor Surges can be used by charging up Valor points. Valor points are earned by successfully executing attacks in combat, and can be increased faster with certain perks in Aloy's skill tree.
How to unlock Valor Surges in Horizon Forbidden West
Valor Surges can be unlocked by spending skill points in the skill tree. Players must unlock each corresponding skill to unlock the overarching Valor Surge. Players can earn skill points a number of ways, but will most likely get them from completing quests and side quests.
