Horizon Forbidden West is finally available to PS4 and PS5 consoles. Still, those buying the title for their next-generation systems may realize the game costs more than other titles from Sony's catalog of games. Why is Horizon Forbidden West more expensive on PS5 than on PS4?
Sony plans to charge $69.99 for all first-party exclusive titles on the PS5 instead of the $59.99 for games on the PS4. While there won't be a way around this price hike for future games, there is a way for players to save $10 when purchasing Horizon Forbidden West for PS5.
Horizon Forbidden West offers a free next-generation upgrade, meaning that everyone who buys the PS4 version of the game has access to the PS5 copy as well. Digital purchasers can head to the Horizon Forbidden West purchase page and buy the $59.99 Standard Edition to access both versions of the game. Physical owners can manually upgrade their PS4 copy using the PlayStation Store. As stated earlier, future titles won't be eligible for a free next-generation upgrade, and the new starting price for PS5 games will be $69.99.
