How to take photos in Martha is Dead

Time for a retro photoshoot!

In Martha is Dead, taking photos is central to gameplay. Using a 1940 camera with 120mm film, Guilia snaps shots of her surroundings to help solve the mystery of her sister. The only thing is, using an old-school camera can be daunting and appear complicated. Once you learn the basics, you'll be a photography pro in no time.

How to Take Photos

To take a photo, you'll need to hit the B key to remove your camera from your bag. Walk up to the distance you want to shoot the subject from (don't walk too far or close, as you will not use a zoom feature) and use your mouse clicker to activate the camera mode.

Line up your subject with the viewfinder (the grid with the circle in the middle). Adjust rotation, height, and inclination as needed (you can see the keys on the left side). Once you do that, use the right side of the screen to adjust exposure, aperture, and focus. You can see how well this is working by the indicators on the left side of the screen. When you have the camera adjusted to your liking, hit space to capture.

Extras

If you are doing something unique with your camera, such as a close-up shot or shooting in the dark, you'll need to equip an attachment. You can find these different accessories throughout the home as the game progresses. To attach them, you'll hit the arrow key on the right side of the screen where it says Adjustments. Here is where you can equip any of the extras needed, whether it's a different type of lens, flashbulb, or others.
