How to find a Village in Minecraft

To find a village in Minecraft, you will usually need to explore a bit to find one, but this is the least desirable method you can do as it can be ages before you find one. Nonetheless, if you look around in the following areas, you might eventually find a village in Minecraft naturally.

Village spawns on all platforms

  • Dessert
  • Savanna
  • Taiga
  • Snowy Tundra

Bedrock Edition Only Spawns

  • Sunflower
  • Snowy Taiga
  • Snowy Taiga Hills
  • Taiga Hills

When searching for a village in Minecraft, look for lights in the distance and use large terrain objects like hills and mountains to give you a view of the land. With enough luck, you might be able to quickly locate one with no problem at all.

However, the easiest method is to simply type /locate Village, which will display the nearest village's coordinates on the screen. To do this, press / on your keyboard, and this will bring up the console command input in the top right-hand corner of the screen. Then just type in what it says above /locate Village.

After this, you can then just follow the coordinates and find the village with no problem. Unfortunately, this won't help all players as the command is restricted to PC platforms, but luckily there's an easy way console players can try to find a village.

The best way is to find a seed that has one close by to where the player spawns; these seeds can be found easily online if you search; in fact, we actually have an entire guide here just dedicated to seeds, with a few of them being village spawns!

What to do when you find a village

Once you finally locate a village, you will be able to experience and do several things; the main one being able to loot all of the exciting loot scattered about in the various houses in villages.

You can also trade with various NPCs with items like emeralds and even upgrade villagers to different jobs and raise your popularity rank with the entire village. Players can also participate in village events and defend it from raids and zombie sieges where waves of hostile mobs will attack.
