How to Recover a Minecraft World

Here's how to restore deleted Minecraft worlds

If you deleted your Minecraft world, you more or less can not recover your game world. However, if you are on PC, there is one way in which you can recover lost or deleted Minecraft worlds.

But before we begin, this method will only work if you deleted the game manually and haven't cleared your recycle bin on your desktop. In other cases, your world is gone for good, and there won't be any way to restore it.

However, if the former is your current situation, you can restore your Minecraft world by locating the game's save folder in the location on your pc listed below.

  • \yourusername\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\saves

If you don't see this folder, you may need to unhide the folder. To unhide the folder, simply click your user folder and then the tab that says view above the desktop search address.

After this, locate the option to the right that says hidden options and check it. You can also use the following steps to locate the AppData folder.

  • Hold down both the windows and R key on your keyboard
  • Copy paste %appdata% into the tab that will appear
  • Locate the the .minecraft folder in appdata

Once you locate the Minecraft folder in AppData, you will then need to right-click the folder. Doing so will then open a tab on your desktop that will show a list of various options.

That said, To restore your deleted world, you will need to click the one that says "restore previous versions". However, as we previously stated this method will only work if you deleted the world manually, so in other cases your world will be permanently gone if deleted.

To avoid this fate, we highly recommend back ups of your worlds, and you can do this by locating your worlds inside the save folder and right clicking them and clicking copy.

After this simply create a new folder somewhere else and name it something like Minecraft world backups and paste the save in there. If you then want to restore your world, all you will need to do is simply copy the world back into the save game folder.
