Aurora Somncanth is resistant to most elemental types. Still, because it uses Ice attacks, you want to equip yourself with a Fire elemental weapon and focus on the head fin and forelegs. Thunder is Aurora's secondary weakness, however, every other type is useless to use.

Blunt weaponry is the best thing to use against Aurora Somnacanth, but Cutting is exceptionally close behind. For Hammers, focus purely on the head, and let Cutting and Ammo weapons concentrate on the Neck.

Aurora Somnacanth Status resistances and ailments in MHR Sunbreak

Like Astalos, Aurora Somnacanth is resistant to most things, as it is entirely immune to sleep. Blast is great to use if you have it, and finding a helper to inflict Fireblight for that constant damage effect will help with the fight.

There are numerous ways to get monster parts, but it revolves heavily around a percentage system, which is RNG.

  • There are multiple ways to gain items:
    • You can generally carve three times once the monster is dead, but this can change with skills and the type of monster
    • All chopped appendages of said monster can normally be carved once
    • Capturing the monster instead of killing it can alter the percentage of rewards
    • Breaking monster parts, claws, and wings increases the odds of getting more parts
    • From obtaining the white drops that fall from the monster
    • Gaining rewards for completing your quest.
