How to 1v1 in MORDHAU

For honor.

MORDHAU is a highly-addictive melee multiplayer game for medieval fans. It’s named after a technique in the German school of swordsmanship, which involved holding the sword on its blade and pummeling your opponent with the handle. Like the half-sword technique Mordhau, the game is as equally chaotic as it is fun. And if you feel like Mordhau-ing your friends in a 1v1, you absolutely can! Here’s how to do it.

There are no private servers in MORDHAU, so the only way you can duel your friends is by entering an empty Duels server and inviting them over. There are a ton of them out there, and other players are honorable enough to leave you guys alone in case they do enter the server on accident.

Others might issue a challenge, but they’ll leave you alone once you decline them. They’ll even spectate sometimes, which is pretty funny. You and your friend can even participate in tag duels or impromptu King of the Hills with the others if you're tired of 1v1s.

If you truly want to keep your 1v1 private, the only thing you can do is create your own dedicated server and password protect it. There are tons of awesome resources in the Mordhau Server Owners Discord if you want to try your hand at it. However, note that hosting dedicated servers either requires money or some router knowledge, so we don’t really recommend you do so if it’s just for casual fun.

If MORDHAU’s developers somehow change their minds down the line, you can follow their official Twitter page to get live updates. They post their patch notes there as well.
