How to recruit Survivor NPCs in Nightingale

A friend indeed.

In Nightingale, surviving alone in the dangerous realms can be a tricky task, which is why you need to know how to recruit Survivor NPCs. You'll come across a few of these NPCs early on, so here's how to hire them in your party.

Survivor NPCs are characters that can join your party after you complete a simple Quest for them. These characters are usually located close to Essence Traders and have certain building tasks that you need to perform. To recruit these NPCs you need to complete their specific Quest, and then interact with them afterward. Keep in mind that you can only have one Survivor NPC in your party at a time.

These NPCs can be found all around the realms, and they can help survive in several ways. Firstly, you can transfer materials to a companion NPC while harvesting resources in bulk. This allows your character to stay unburdened so you can keep on farming resources.

Likewise, you can equip weapons, tools, and other items to these NPCs, and they'll perform the appropriate action. For instance, I assigned a Hunting Knife to one of my companion NPCs who helps me during fights against enemies. Remember, the recruited Survivor NPC follows your character around the map, making every combat scenario much easier.

While looking for Survivor NPCs around the realms, keep an eye out for the Aid map marker (as shown in the image above). This denotes that a Survivor NPC is at the location and in need of aid. After completing their Quest, you can recruit the respective NPC to your party.

Similarly, you can visit a Defend map marker where the objective is to fight back a wave of enemies while protecting a few NPCs. Once the task is completed, you'll get rewarded with various items including Essence Dust and T1 Essence. After the objective is done, you can hire any of the Survivor NPCs from this area.

To equip weapons, gear, tools, and other essentials to a Survivor NPC companion, interact with the character and select the Manage Equipment and Inventory option. Transfer the necessary items from your inventory to the NPC's and select each item individually to equip them.

So, before fighting enemies, you can equip weapons to your companion NPC to support during combat. Similarly, while harvesting natural resources, equip the appropriate tool (Wood Axe, Sickle, Mining Pick) by visiting the NPC's inventory.
