Sometimes, EXP & JP grinding isn’t enough to build your ideal party in Octopath Traveler 2. That’s where Nuts come in. Nuts are items in the game that boost a particular stat—permanently—when used. There are ten types of Nuts for all ten stats. Here’s how to farm for them.
Where to find Nuts in Octopath Traveler 2
Nuts are dropped by a rare monster called an Octopuff. You may have seen them in your travels before. They initially give a boost in EXP and JP when defeated, but their value lies in the fact that they drop Nuts.
Unfortunately, Octopuffs are very annoying beasts to deal with. They flee quickly and have very high Evasion, Phys. Def., and Elem. Def. stats. When you’re low-leveled, the best way to deal with one is by attacking them with magic or throwing Soulstones. But as you progress through the game, you can pad one character’s accuracy and Phys. Atk. stats and have them defeat Octopuffs.

Every Octopuff location in Octopath Traveler 2
As mentioned, there are ten types of Nuts in Octopath Traveler 2, which means that there are also ten types of Octopuffs that drop these Nuts. You can randomly encounter one type of Octopuff in every region of the map (such as Leaflands and Winterlands).
We recommend that you farm for them in the areas with the lowest levels since they’re usually as strong as the monsters they spawn with. This will also help guarantee you flee, in case you don’t encounter one in a battle.

How to find more Octopuffs
If you want to increase your chances of encountering these creatures, you’ll want to equip your party with as many of these two accessories as possible: Octopuff Pot and Alluring Ribbon. The former increases the spawn rate of Octopuffs while the latter will attract more monsters. Also, don't forget to equip the Hunter Skill More Rare Monsters to one of the members in your active party.
All Octopuff Pot locations
- On a Fisherman in Conning Creek (he stands near the entrance to town in the daytime).
- As a quest reward for the Will Research for Money side story in Montwise.
- In a red treasure chest on Lighthouse Island. This is the place where you'll find the item that will complete the Lighthouse Restoration side story.
All Alluring Ribbon locations
- On the Gloomy Hunter in Eastern Wellgrove Trail in the Leaflands.
- As a quest reward for the Lingering Love side story in Stormhail.
Beyond this, there is no real shortcut to encountering Octopuffs in the game. So, the best of luck!
