Overwatch 2 launched on October 4, 2022, after being highly anticipated for years. Fans of the original Overwatch are undoubtedly excited for the long-awaited sequel, but some are not happy with Overwatch 2.
Mike Ybarra, president of Blizzard Entertainment, took to Twitter and stated, "Unfortunately we are experiencing a mass DDoS attack on our servers. Teams are working hard to mitigate/manage. This is causing a lot of drop/connection issues." With a new game launch, issues and bugs are to be expected, but this DDoS attack has certainly caused more issues.
Ybarra goes on to reassure Overwatch 2 players that their team is working on the issues caused by the attack and thanks fans for their patience and excitement. Many of the issues are regarding logging in or disconnecting from the game, which can be extremely frustrating, especially with the long queue times.
If you are experiencing issues with logging into Overwatch 2 or disconnecting once you are in, it likely has something to do with the DDoS attack. You will need to be patient as Blizzard deals with this and the normal problems that plague the launch of a popular title.
