Should you kill the Translator in Pathfinder Lord of Nothing?

Is he really evil?

During the quest Unworthy Servants in Pathfinder Lord of Nothing, one of the Kellids will ask you to murder the Translator. This guide will help you choose whether to kill him, or listen to his justifications and his offer of an alternative escape.

After being chosen to be eaten by the Giants, the Translator had to make himself useful and betray his tribe to survive. Although initially, he seems to have good reasons to justify becoming a herald of the captors, it is soon evident that siding with him would be choosing the evil outcome.

The Translator's plan is to sic the Giants on the Kellids, while the latter are attempting to complete a ritual, and use the distraction to escape. While it is a selfish choice, it doesn't have such a big impact on the plot.

Besides, the reason why your party is in the Verdant Caves doesn't have to do with the Kellids. You came here to kill the Chief of the Giants and take the Ice Shard from him. If you choose to side with the Translator, the final fight will be much easier since you will avoid most of the giants and you will only have to fight two of them before facing the big boss.

There are no rewards in any of the two outcomes, so choosing to side with the Translator will only have an impact on your conscience. If you can sleep fine after dooming the prisoners to an ugly death, then this is the fastest, easiest route to complete the quest.

Killing the Translator would be choosing the "good path", at least for the game's moral standards. However many reasons he seems to have to justify his betrayal, he is a selfish person and won't give you any rewards for siding with him.

If you care for the Kellids, you should kill the Translator. Attacking him will trigger a fight against him and one of the giants, which will also help you diminish the number of giants before trying to fight them all simultaneously.

Choosing the good path is generally the hardest. If you help the Kellids perform their ritual, you will have to defend them from two waves of giants. Since you can't long rest while you are in the caves (you can only short rest), it is important to stay healthy for the final battle.

Tip: you can poison the food of the two giants that are standing watch on the north part of the caves. I put a Potion of Reduce Person in their meal, and waited until they were weakened to fight them. Some of the Kellids will help you, and since these not-so-giant-anymore are away from the rest of their tribe, they are much easier to kill.

If you follow those instructions, by the time of performing the ritual you will only have to stop five giants to be able to move onto their camp and the big boss.
